Production Story <Part 2> The greatest focus is on the melody touch and a tone that never gets boring
Yuzo Hayashi says, "I have many musical roots," including the gut guitar he picked up when he was in sixth grade, as well as folk guitar, jazz piano, and distorted guitar.
He is an artist who provides musical works, a recording arranger, and also a keyboard player.
This time, we spoke with Hayashi, the creator of the popular "Solfeggio Healing 528" series at Healing Plaza, about his musical roots and perspective, as well as the creation of the latest installment in the series, " Solfeggio Healing 528: Frequencies that Lead to Ideal Sleep ." This is the second part of the series, following on from the first part .
- What did you think when you received the request to do "Solfeggio Healing 528"?
Hayashi: I was originally interested in healing music because I liked ECM music*1.
Actually, before Della approached me, I had been creating a demo tape of about 10 songs for people who were interested in 528 (frequency) music , but that job disappeared.
These 10-song demo tapes served as the backbone, and discussions with Della progressed smoothly.
Ikeda of Della : For Della, the first album, " Solfeggio Healing 528 - Five Frequencies to Balance the Mind and Body ," was very popular, and we really wanted to ask Hayashi to write a sequel.
In particular, it must have been difficult to create the 30- minute song that closes your latest work, " Solfeggio Healing 528 - Frequencies that Lead to Ideal Sleep ."
Hayashi: It's impossible if I'm sleep-deprived. I fall asleep after the eighth bar!
The most difficult aspect of composing "Solfeggio Healing 528 - Frequencies that Lead to Ideal Sleep" was intentionally keeping the melody subdued so that everyone could fall asleep comfortably.
Another difficult aspect was that we couldn't use many percussion instruments.
For example, if the melody is too sad, the listener will not be able to sleep.
What we have been conscious of throughout the series is to keep the viewers engaged and not get bored .
It doesn't have too many emotional ups and downs, but it's not boring . There's a conflict between wanting it to be played as background music and wanting it to really hit you as a melody.
Emotional fluctuations do not lead to peace, so there is a constant battle of sounds every second .
In this sense, the placement of sounds in relation to time, such as chord changes, requires a great deal of sense.
Mr. Ikeda of Della : "Hayashi's piano touch doesn't have a ringing sound. Users who listened to the CD even asked me about the tone, asking me which brand of piano he was using."
--What does "healing" mean to you, Hayashi?
Hayashi: That's a very difficult question , but I think it would be like being a child again . Feeling nostalgic and thinking about things that you don't normally think about .
If your body and mind are not rested, you won't be able to think (of new things).
I think being truly healed is being able to be positive .
Furthermore, I always believe that there is nothing more amazing than the ordinary .
This is how we have a friendly meeting with everyone.
It truly is happiness itself. In order to create soothing music, I have to be happy myself!
We value our physical and mental health, including our diet.

Hayashi: I feel like there aren't many melodic songs in the healing genre.
