July 1st is "Heart Day"_1

Did you know that July 1st is Heart Day ?

It may not be widely known, but it is said to be a day to learn about one's own mental state and think about the importance of maintaining mental health.

This time, we will introduce ways to check your current mental state and mental care that you can incorporate into your daily life.

What kind of day is Heart Day?

This day was established to commemorate the revision of the Mental Hygiene Act to the Mental Health Act on July 1, 1988 (Showa 63).

It is proposed that this day be used to promote correct understanding of mental illnesses and mental disabilities, and to encourage people to think about the importance of mental health .

Mental health events held in various locations

The week before and after July 1st is designated as "Mental Health Day," and during this period various events are held in various locations. The content varies depending on the venue, but they include lectures and health consultation corners where you can receive health advice and stress tests.

They also introduce nearby counseling services that you can use if you feel a bit mentally exhausted.

Check your mental well-being

Even if you think you're okay, your mental state is not always the same.
It changes depending on various factors such as changes in the environment due to the seasons and weather, how busy you are with your studies, the amount of work you do, and your relationships with others.

If you think something is a little off, it's important to stop for a moment and check your "mental well-being."

Among the items such as "I have trouble waking up in the morning," "I can't get rid of my fatigue even though I think I've had plenty of sleep," and "I feel like going to work (school)": Be careful if there is one!

Let's be conscious and start by doing what we can to improve our mental health.

Take care of your mind

When you feel mentally exhausted, here are some self-help mental care tips you can try : Mental care I recommend incorporating this into your daily life. .

How to do that Let me introduce them to you.

Try to talk honestly

Talk to a close friend, coworker, or family member about an incident that caused you stress.

Having someone listen to you helps you organize your thoughts and calm your emotions.
There's no need to force yourself to talk about things you don't want to talk about. Sometimes even just casual conversation can be comforting.

Try writing out your feelings freely

If you feel a little uncomfortable telling someone everything, it can be effective to just write down your feelings on paper. I also recommend keeping a diary.

The important thing is to let out your feelings instead of bottling them up.

Create reward time in your daily life

When you're busy with your studies or work, you tend to put off doing the things you like and enjoy.
It is important to consciously create "reward time" that makes your heart happy, such as immersing yourself in your favorite movie, eating sweets, or listening to music.

When listening to music, it's fine to listen to your favorite genre, but I also recommend music that helps relieve stress .

Acoustic sounds such as piano, flute, and guitar will clear your mind.

Exercise moderately

Just moving your body a little with some light exercise can make you feel refreshed.
It seems that moderate exercise is actually being incorporated into psychiatric treatment.
