Nostalgic Music Box - A brain-activating CD that invigorates the mind and body through reminiscence

Why "popular songs"?

One of the reasons we feel nostalgic is when we feel a sense of familiarity with something.
People tend to feel closer to and like others the more frequently they come into contact with them; in psychology this is called the "mere exposure effect."
Popular songs are played on television and radio every day, and we hear them while walking around town, so regardless of personal musical tastes, we often become familiar with them and end up liking them.
By listening to these Showa era popular songs that are familiar to many people through the sound of a music box, we can now feel a sense of nostalgia.

The mechanism by which nostalgia can make you feel better

When we feel nostalgic, the substantia nigra and ventral tegmental area in the midbrain become activated, which causes dopamine neurons to release dopamine.
This brings about a sense of pleasure and has a positive effect on motor function, making us feel better, relieving stress and invigorating our mind and body.

The cover image features a work by Taniuchi Rokuro, a representative painter of the Showa era.

The works of Taniuchi Rokuro, who has been illustrating the covers of "Weekly Shincho" for 25 years since its first issue, are very familiar to us and evoke nostalgic feelings.
With the cooperation of his family and the Yokosuka Museum of Art, we have been able to use Taniuchi's work "The Child Blowing the Seeds" (1960) as the jacket image for this work, and "Summer in a Bottle" (1975) on the back cover.

Rokuro Taniuchi (1921-1981)
He was born in Ebisu, Tokyo in 1921 as the sixth son of nine siblings. After graduating from high school, he began submitting manga and illustrations to newspapers and magazines.
He won the first Bungeishunju Manga Award in 1955. The following year, he created the cover art for the magazine Shukan Shincho at the same time as its launch. Over the course of 25 years, until his death in 1981, he created over 1,300 cover art.
His works, which depict nostalgic landscapes and life throughout the seasons with his unique perspective and humor, have captured the hearts of many people.
In 2007, the Yokosuka Museum of Art and the Taniuchi Rokuro Museum opened in Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture.

Uses carefully selected music box sounds
The beautiful sounds of the "Alpha Wave Music Box" recorded on this CD contain subtle sound fluctuation signals that take cerebral physiology into consideration.
This fluctuation signal induces alpha waves, which is expected to relax the mind and body and enable various abilities to be unleashed.
In addition, feeling nostalgia causes the dopamine neurons in the brain to release dopamine, which is expected to improve your physical and mental state.
