Born in Tokyo, he has worked on producing soundtracks and sound effects in a variety of fields, including the Pokémon game series and the film The Unfortunate Past.

As a composer, he is particularly skilled at composing world music influenced by Irish and Scandinavian music, and he performs and records on a wide variety of instruments, including guitar, bass, and other folk instruments such as the Irish bouzouki and kantele.
